Latinx Cultural Sensitivity Training

Event Date:

June 12, 2021

Event Time:

10:00 am

This training aims to provide an in-depth understanding of the history and cultural worldview of Latinx individuals. The diversity of Latinx individuals across Latin America is vast, yet unknown to Clinicians practicing in the United States.

We explore topics to help participants become more self-aware through knowledge and active participation. Additionally, the experiences of different sub-cultures are presented, their lived experiences, issues of trauma, and relationship to the United States. The second part of the training provides clinicians with tools to conceptualize Latinx clients, interventions and models that work best. A case study is presented and processed at the end, where all the information learned is processed. The main goal is for mental health clinicians to gain knowledge and process how culture shapes and influences the clinical setting.
