As mental health practitioners, providing safe and affirmative care requires us to keep learning with curiosity and open hearts. Concepts, language and culture around gender and sexual identities are evolving and thriving. In this workshop, Rae will help us explore affirming language, pronouns, and the gender spectrum as a foundation for providing trans-affirming care. They will also challenge the dominant narrative of gender transition that transition has to equal suffering and applies current research in facilitative coping mechanisms to individuals in the process of transitioning their gender in order to help our clients transition with more ease.
