We Are What We’ve Been Waiting For: Building Sustainable Mental Wellness Communities (In-Person Workshop)

Event Date:

April 5, 2024

Event Time:

2:00 pm

Building sustainable mental wellness communities focuses on how clinicians and mental health advocates can foster a supportive environment for individuals to thrive emotionally, psychologically, and socially. In an era where mental health is increasingly recognized as a critical aspect of overall well-being, creating communities that prioritize mental wellness is essential. In this class, participants will explore the history of community mental health, examine current resources and networks within their respective communities, and engage in solution-focused dialogue about ways to support the mental wellness of people in their respective work and communities.

This is an in-person workshop. The workshop will take place at the Chicago Minds coworking space located at 661 W Lake St, Suite 2S, Chicago IL 60661. Light refreshments will be served.

Workshop Objectives:

  1. Understanding Community Mental Health: Participants will explore the historical context and evolving significance of mental health within communities.
  2. Resource Assessment and Network Building: Participants will identify and evaluate existing mental health resources and networks within participants’ communities. The Facilitator will foster an understanding of the support structures available for mental wellness.
  3. Promoting Supportive Environments: The Facilitator will provide opportunities for participants to develop skills to create supportive environments for emotional, psychological, and social well-being for community members.
  4. Solution-Focused Dialogue and Advocacy: Participants will engage in solution-focused dialogue about supporting mental wellness in work and community settings. The Facilitator will equip participants with the knowledge and tools to advocate for mental health within their respective roles and communities.
