Infertility affects 1 in 6 worldwide, yet there continues to be stigma and heightened barriers to accessing fertility care, particularly for BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities. This interactive, two-hour training will help participants gain a better understanding of infertility, which will include testing and treatment options, definitions and acronyms, as well as considerations for various racial ethnic groups, and gender identities. There will be a case conceptualization and a variety of interventions that participants will learn and be able to implement into their work.

This training has been approved by Postpartum Support International for PMH-C renewals, as well as the Advance Course requirement.

Workshop Objectives:

• Participants will gain an understanding of infertility, tests, and treatment options.

• Participants will recognize the psychological impacts of infertility.

• Participants will have the ability to describe and implement effective treatment techniques when working with this population.

About the Speaker:

Kendra A. Vargas (she/her), LCPC, PMH-C, is a culturally responsive and inclusive psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, consultant, and infertility trainer. She specializes in perinatal mental health and holds a Perinatal Mental Health Certificate through Postpartum Support International. Kendra is the founder of Authentically You Psychotherapy, a solo practice where she provides individual therapy and group therapy services. She has an ongoing Fertility Skills and Support Group for women utilizing Assisted Reproductive Technologies such as IUI and IVF. Kendra has a personal connection and deep compassion for people utilizing Assisted Reproductive Technologies.
