Do you feel LOST as an EMDR therapist?  Doyou feel like EMDR Therapy “just doesn’t work for some clients.”?  Do you find yourself getting “stuck” in EMDR Therapy? 

The EMDR HOUSE MODEL is an advanced training designed to assist clinicians in conceptualizing EMDR Therapy in a dynamic, multi-dimensional way.  By utilizing the analogy of a house, clinicians can better understand “where they are” within EMDR’s eight phases and how to better navigate clinical challenges. The structured nature of the EMDR Eight Phases lends itself to the misunderstanding that EMDR Therapy is a linear “step-by-step” approach rather than a dynamic structured approach.  This advanced training is an effort to utilize a visual analogy in order to enhance right-hemisphere engagement in the material and better provide for an understanding of the multidimensional application of the Eight Phases.

Objectives

Objective 1:  Participants will be able to conceptualize EMDR Therapy using a house as an analogy. Participants will be taught to use a house analogy and how rooms in a house relate to the 8 phases in order to conceptualize EMDR Therapy. 

Objective 2: Participants will be able to describe how to move from phase to phase in a nonlinear manner based on client need. Participants will be taught the tasks to be completed in each room based on the 8 phases. 

Objective 3: Participants will be able to identify 3 indicators suggesting the need for an extended phase II.  Participants will be given visual models to conceptualize the presentation of a lack of resources and stability necessary to proceed with reprocessing phases.   

Objective 4: Participants will be able to conceptualize their “location in the house” of at least one current client. Participants will be given case examples to illustrate “location in the house” within the 8 phases.

About the Speaker

Susan Wendelborg, LCSW is an EMDRIA-Approved EMDR Consultant and Advanced Credit provider. She previously contracted with Personal Transformation Institute as a Lead Trainer for Somatic and Attachment Focused (SAFE) EMDR Basic Training. She is also a Certified Sensorimotor Psychotherapist and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy training assistant.  She  utilizes and teaches an integrated, experiential approach to therapy. 

*Registration is open to mental health clinicians who have completed at least Part One of any EMDRIA-approved EMDR Basic Training. 2 EMDRIA credits are included in the base cost of $40. **Workshop participants who opt to receive additional CE certification, please select the CEU option. This workshop fulfills requirement for 2 CE credits. CE sponsorship is approved by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR), credits are applicable to LCSW and transferrable to LCPC in Illinois. If you have a different licensure or are licensed outside of Illinois, please check with your licensure body before purchasing.
