Alzheimer’s and dementia have touched all of our lives in one way or another. We have either had a loved one impacted by Alzheimer’s or another dementia or know someone who has. More than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s and this number continues to grow as our population ages. This presentation aims to give you a foundation to understand the basics of Alzheimer’s and dementia and how to help if you are working with clients who might be facing the disease or caring for someone who is. 

This workshop fulfills the required one-hour (minimum) training on the diagnosis, treatment, and care of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.

Workshop Objectives

• Understand Alzheimer’s and dementia and what the difference is. 
• Learn about the risk factors, diagnostic process, and stages of the disease.
• Discussion of current FDA-approved treatments and the emerging research around Alzheimer’s.
• Provide insight into common caregiver concerns and challenges.
• Build knowledge of resources to support those living with dementia and their caregivers.

About the Speaker

Jessica Lloyd (she/her), is an LCSW based in Chicago, IL. She currently works as a Training Specialist for the 24/7 Helpline at the Alzheimer’s Association. Jessica has worked at the Alzheimer’s Association for over 5 years and worked as a Care Consultant providing direct support to people living with dementia and their families prior to her training role. She has a master’s in social work from the University of Chicago with a focus on clinical social work and older adult studies.
