Sustainable Clinical Practice: Combating Compassion Fatigue

Maintaining sustainable clinical practice requires burnout prevention knowledge and skills. In this interactive workshop, you will be walked through the neuroscience of compassion fatigue and be provided with specific tools to curb and revert the process. Participants will gain new insight and skills to manage clinical practice in more sustainable ways. This session will address the impact of working through the pandemic, and specific issues that impact BIPOC clinicians and provide evidence-based techniques clinicians can immediately implement to improve their quality of life.

Workshop Objectives

  • Attendees will be able to define compassion fatigue and how COVID-19 is impacting mental health professionals.
  • Attendees will be able to identify symptoms of compassion fatigue they may be experiencing and objectively measure the severity of symptoms.
  • Attendees will develop a sustainability plan to help manage symptoms of compassion fatigue and improve their quality of life.
  • The workshop will address concerns related to BIPOC clinicians dealing with microaggressions and systemic racism which also contribute to compassion fatigue.

About the Speaker

Natasha D’Arcangelo (she/her), is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the states of Florida, Oregon and Washington, a Florida Qualified Supervisor, a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), a Certified Compassion Fatigue Professional (CCFP), a Compassion Fatigue Educator and a Certified Forward Facing Professional Resilience Coach and Consultant. She received her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Argosy University, Sarasota. She is the Clinical Director of Lakewood Residential Treatment Center, an adjunct professor with Purdue University Global and the owner of D’Arcangelo Counseling & Consulting, LLC. Her previous experience includes 15 years as an educator, an inpatient psychiatric setting, community mental health, private practice and mental health tech. She has presented on various topics including Destigmatizing Mental Health Care, Compassion Fatigue and Effective Techniques for Working with Teens. She operates from a cultural humility perspective and is an ally of the LGTBQIA+ community. She is especially passionate about working with clients who are struggling with trauma and anxiety.

Registration for CEUs


This workshop fulfills the requirements for 1.5 CE credits. CE sponsorship is approved by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR), and credits are applicable to LCSW and transferrable to LCPC in Illinois. If you have a different licensure or are licensed outside of Illinois, please check with your licensure body before purchasing.
