Reclaim Your Name: Healing from Internalized Oppression

Event Date:

July 2, 2021

Event Time:

12:00 pm

What is the truth behind your name? Was it a family name? Was your name changed for survival? Did you lose your name?

We were given a name and there is a story and truth to each name. This workshop is a deep exploration of identity healing and the experiential healing from internalized racism. Many individuals were forced to assimilate by changing names to survive. We will spend two hours in this workshop exploring our names and true names and reclaiming our identities. This will be a journey to undo the force assimilations many of us experienced and reclaim the identities truth to our whole authentic selves all the while building community.

All are welcome!

We heal within, we heal together!

Objectives:

  1. Practice introspective thinking and feeling to channel experiences as it relates to identity healing
  2. Shared experiences in group setting building community resiliency
  3. Actively engage in anti-racist and anti-bias work through deep self exploration of internalized and conditional racism
  4. Incorporate mindfulness and somatic practices to channel body based healing
