Lunch & Learn Special: No Surprises Act

Many mental health professionals have felt the “surprise” effect of the “No Surprises Act” since it took effect on January 1, 2022. If you’re wondering about the new statute’s implications on your practice, and are scrambling to adjust to the ensuing changes, you are not alone.  In this special lunch hour workshop, we invite attorney Jonathan Nye to give us a crash course on understanding your rights and responsibilities as mental health professionals in order to comply with the act.

Workshop participants who opt to receive CE certification, please select the CEU option. This workshop fulfills requirement for 1 CE credits. CE sponsorship is approved by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR), credits are applicable to LCSW and transferrable to LCPC in Illinois. If you have a different licensure or are licensed outside of Illinois, please check with your licensure body before purchasing.

About the Speaker

Jonathan D. Nye,  a partner in Nye Law Group, Ltd., is a practicing attorney with offices in Fox River Grove & Chicago, Illinois. He practices extensively in the areas of mental health and human services law, family law, and general practice. Nye Law Group, Ltd. has developed a philosophy of assisting human services providers in avoiding litigation, maintaining confidentiality and assisting human services providers in managing their practices with insight into the potential legal pitfalls inherent to practice of human services provision. Mr. Nye is a graduate of the John Marshall Law School, licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois and before the Federal Courts of the Northern District of Illinois, he has lectured before the Illinois State Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association, local and national associations related to law and human services and to numerous mental health, developmental disabilities, and alcohol and drug abuse agencies.
