The Basics of Kickboxing with Alex Subak

Event Description

This beginner level class will go over the basic fundamentals of kickboxing technique, but don’t be fooled, you’ll definitely work up a sweat and kick lots of butt! Kickboxing is not only a killer workout, it’s a solid way to gain confidence in defending yourself and a great tool to relieve stress and anxiety (which we all know anyone in the mental health community deserves!) Not a beginner? This class is a great opportunity to hone in on your technique and there will be plenty of extra challenges for those who want them. Let’s do this!!!

The event will be held at our office, located at 661 West Lake St, Ste 2S, Chicago, IL 60661  . Details on how to get here will be provided upon registration.

Additional Information:

  • Maximum capacity: 20 people
  • Vaccination and masks required (until otherwise notified)
  • Bottles/Boxed waters and protein bars provided 
  • Work out clothes recommended

About the Instructor

Alex Subak 

Alex is a Chicago based fitness coach, modern dancer, and martial artist. She graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a BA in dance, and is a National Academy of Sports Medicine certified personal trainer. For thirteen years she has been the founder and artistic director of local dance company Laboratory Dancers. Alex has been practicing martial arts for almost a decade, with a concentration in kickboxing and Muay Thai. During the pandemic Alex founded Empowerfit, a fitness collective that takes a body positive, holistic approach to health and fitness. When Alex isn’t moving her body, she fights against domestic violence with the Be Victorious Project and Sarah’s Inn.
