Owning a private practice means living a professional life of multiple hats. In addition to the most important hat of being the therapist for your clients, you are also your own financial planner, secretary, marketer and biller etc. Among which, the biller role usually gives us the most headache. Navigating through the complicated insurance system can be isolating and lonely, come bring your questions about insurance/EAP credentialing and billing and get them answered from a clinician who has been there, whether it be from leaving a group practice and starting a solo practice to expanding a solo practice into a group practice.
When Danielle Kepler, founder of Be Your Own Biller, left group practice after three years, she too was clueless about insurance credentialing and billing. Little over 3 months later, she successfully switched over more than 10 insurance panels to her solo practice and applied to about 10 more insurance panels and Employee Assistance Programs. She also signed up for an Electronic Health Record (EHR) and taught herself how to verify benefits and bill the insurance companies.
