We’re excited to add this workshop for those who missed the previous Decolonizing Trauma Work workshop with Cassie. This 2-hour workshop on Saturday, May 15th will allow for more Q&A time. The workshop will sell out quickly, so please register early to guarantee your spot!
Post-Traumatic growth is the term for healing after trauma. This idea situates growth and healing as a privilege that is not attainable by those for whom trauma has not or does not have a clear end.
In this workshop and conversation, we will challenge this colonized idea of healing and trauma work. We will discuss what healing in place and harm reduction can be for BIPOC, Disabled, and Queer individuals and communities if was decolonize therapy. Cassie will highlight the shortfalls of current common mental health treatments, as well as, the techniques and shifts in thought we can use to better partner with clients in their healing regardless of if the trauma is ongoing.
This event will center Black Queer experiences but will be useful for anyone looking to help themselves and clients who are trying to heal in harmful spaces and situations.
Student discount and sliding scale available. Please contact us at chicagominds@gmail.com for details.
